Dusting with Matcha Powder (Alternative to Glazed Matcha Donuts)

If you prefer a simpler topping for your matcha baked donuts, dusting them with matcha powder is a great alternative.

How to dust the matcha donuts

Once the donuts have cooled, lightly dust them with a fine layer of matcha powder. You can do this by running some matcha powder through a strainer so the fine matcha powder cascades down onto the matcha donuts.

This adds an extra boost of matcha flavor without the sweetness of a glaze.

How to Make Matcha Donuts Even Better

This matcha donuts recipe works great on its own, but if you want to improve the matcha donuts and make them your very own, here are a few tips.

    Use ceremonial-grade matcha

Ceremonial matcha has a more vibrant green color and a smoother flavor, which will make your donuts matcha even more delicious.

Add a filling to your matcha donuts

For a twist on classic donuts, try turning these into matcha filled donuts by adding a sweet matcha cream or red bean paste to the center before baking.
