I like the savoury and umami aroma which has almost spicy-tomato sharpness. I found it less complex than the Kagoshima matcha sae Sakamito (which I preferred). Overall profile is smooth, rounded and creamy. Vegetal notes come later and it finishes clean, refreshing, a little granular and dry. I look forward to trying the matcha Zen Sakamito in the future although at a much higher price point. Whilst I enjoyed it very much I would buy Kagoshima matcha sae Sakamito again rather than this
My wife and I are new to matcha, and we were delighted when we found the Nios website. The Tasting Notes helped us choose the Yame Okumidori Miyakoand Kiwami Sakamoto matchas. Nios was generous in gifting to us a packet of Oishi Ceremonial Saemidori. The Tasting Notes did its work and we are enjoying all three.
This Sakamoto Kiwami matcha is very special, it has deep umami, with almost zero astringency, but very interestingly it has pleasant earthy/mineral notes, the organic fertilizer and volcanic soil of Kagoshima must be working their magic on this specific tea. It has almos NO marine/savory notes (e.g. seaweed) like other high umami matchas from places like Uji (especially on cultivars like uji-hikari or gokou), but in my mind that's a good thing, it's an interesting and highly appealing alternative to bold umami. Also very creamy. God bless Mr Sakamoto 🍵🙌🙏.

another snowy morning with my sakamoto matcha! This one is super warm and nutty. I get a rich umami and no bitterness. I think it's almost as good as the zen but much cheaper
It's very good-tasting and gently sweet. I can taste the great quality, but it is expensive.
Wonderful, notes exactly as described... love the umami. Super creamy if whisked right, NO need for milk, sugar, etc.—just 70C water and matcha please!!!! my mix 85g water with 2.5g matcha.

Un peu insipide
This matcha has been one of the more unique I have tried. Kiwami means "Pinnacle" and on the back label it states it is "gyokuro powder" which is exactly what it tastes like. I prepare mine even less concentrated than usucha, and it is still deep green and smooth with a hearty green tea flavor. While I can't say it's my all time favorite, this one is very good, unique, intentional, and very high quality. It seems Mr. Sakamoto had something special in mind when creating this one. I'm glad I tried it and appreciate the skill that went into making it.
